Welcome to Pullman, Cedric!
The Washington State Cougars basketball roster got a huge boost on Thursday as transfer guard Cedric Coward announced his commitment to WSU on his Instagram.
Coward, a 6’6 senior from Eastern Washington, is the fourth former Eagle to make the move from Spokane to Pullman. It was speculated that Coward could follow his EWU head coach, David Riley, to WSU after he withdrew his name from the NBA Draft on May 28.
In 32 games at EWU last season, Coward average 15.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists. He hit 56.5% of his field goals, shot 38.3% from three and 91.5% from the free throw line, good for ninth best in the nation. His 67.6% on twos ranked inside the top 30 nationwide as well. His sophomore year was even more absurd, hitting 78 of his 100 attempted shots inside the arc and 49 of 61 (80.3%) in conference play.
The addition of Coward gives WSU an incredibly efficient scorer and a much needed splash to bolster a roster teetering on the brink of being a postseason contender on paper.
