Hello Coug fans, and I hope you all had a good Thanksgiving. I don’t know what to be more thankful for—the next opportunity to watch college football or the fact that we only have to watch this frustrating Cougar defense just two more times this season.
But enough negativity, our Cougs are back home to take on the Wyoming Cowboys, winners of just two games. WSU clearly has more to play for, it being senior day and a 10-win season still on the table. But the Cougs had more to play for against New Mexico and Oregon State, and we saw how that played out.
OK now I promise—enough negativity. It’s hard given what we’ve witnessed the past two weeks but I’ll do my best.
The Cowboys’ wins have come against Air Force and New Mexico (uh oh), and they have a loss to FCS Idaho, too. They come in giving up 422 yards per game, so the WSU offense shouldn’t have much issue, so long as it doesn’t beat itself. The Cowboys are no. 119 in total offense, and lean more toward a running game, though even that is ranked just no. 87 nationally.
Evan Svoboda is the likely starter under center for Wyoming, and he’s been hot and cold this year. He started eight games before being benched. His backup—Kaden Anderson—is injured and not expected to play. Svoboda is a decent threat to run, so hold on to your butts.
All eyes are on the WSU defense today, as Coug fans are yearning for SOMETHING to change. Perhaps the Cougs will get their first sack in four games. Maybe that’s asking too much. At the very least, let’s hope we don’t see a defensive end forced to cover a wide receiver.

Previous Meetings
The Cougs are 5-2 all-time against Wyoming, with the most recent matchup coming in Laramie in 2018 when a then-unknown quarterback named Gardner Minshew led the Cougs to a 41-19 victory. Jake Dickert was coaching safeties at Wyoming in that game:
