Feeling icy on the blue turf.
After a 4-0 start to the season, the Washington State Cougars hit the road for their first true road game of the season and what might be their biggest game of the regular season against the Boise State Broncos.
Under the lights and on the blue turf with the nation watching one of the biggest games of week five nationally, WSU will rock one of their best looks, the ‘icy white’ uniforms.

The original icy white look first made an appearance in 2014 at home against the Oregon Ducks and instantly became a fan favorite. Since then, the white helmets have become a staple of WSU uniforms and have presented us with some great uniform combos like the ‘ketchup bottle’ look worn in the 2018 Alamo Bowl, the white-anthracite-white combo worn last year vs. Oregon State, and many more.
As for the full icy white combo itself, there are two variations. One with a white facemask and one with a crimson facemask. Coincidentally, WSU is 2-2 in both sets since 2017.
The crimson facemask variation started hot with wins at Oregon and Oregon State in 2017 and 2020, respectively, but has dropped the last two games in the 2022 LA Bowl against Fresno State and in 2023 at Oregon.
Not only does the full set make their 2024 season debut on Saturday, but it’s also the first time we’ll see the white helmets and pants in 2024. The white shells will enter with a modest 10-9 record but a gross 2-6 record when paired with the crimson facemask. Meanwhile, the white jerseys check in a 15-13 record and the white pants at an impressive 12-6 record.
