Come on, drink one for the kids.
Good evening, Cougar fans and beer enthusiasts! The latest news buzzing in our little community is the release of the brand new collaboration between the Cougar Collective and Pike Brewing, a proud Washington brewery based out of Seattle, WA.
Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager has made waves since it was first teased by the Cougar Collective, and it’s finally available to enjoy at select bar locations, who are some of the very first to have it on tap and in cans! Just in case you missed it, catch up on all the release details here.
I was lucky enough to attend the CougsFirst! tradeshow last Friday, where Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager made its debut to be tasted by Cougs for the very first time.
My review? This beer is light, smooth, and goes down easy, with no lingering bitter aftertaste that’s sometimes found in lagers (Hallelujah)! No, this is a well-balanced, refreshing beer that pairs perfectly with sunny days, tailgates and good company— And with an approachable 4.8% ABV, most Cougs will have no problem putting more than one of these bad boys down the hatch on a Cougar Football Saturday. I can already see pitchers upon pitchers of Ol’ Crimson Legendary Lager being poured at the Coug for a rowdy pre-game crowd.
At the official launch party event hosted at Marco Polo Bar & Grill, I, myself, put down 3 Ol’ Crimsons, and found it easy to do so. I’m not typically a person who can drink a high quantity of beer, as they eventually start feeling too heavy and a bit like liquid overload to me, but Ol’ Crimson’s light and refreshing body made it way too easy to keep guzzling them down. Plus, you’re doing a good thing by enjoying a couple pints (responsibly, of course), as a portion of all Ol’ Crimson sales are donated to the Cougar Collective. Benefitting our student athletes by drinking beer!? It’s a beautiful concept in today’s wild world of NIL.
Overall, amazing work by Pike Brewing and the Cougar Collective for creating a beer that’s strategically perfect for buying limitless pitchers of the crisp, delicious lager that’s irresistible on a hot day and easy to enjoy. Sipping an icy cold Ol’ Crimson on the first blazing hot CFS of the season this August is going to hit different, folks.
Now we wait not so patiently for Ol’ Crimson to be available on shelves and in more bars and restaurants across Washington, and hopefully someday in other states, as well! I need a 6-pack of that gorgeous can in my fridge ASAP.
If you got to try Ol’ Crimson since it’s debut, I’d love to hear your thoughts and see your beer selfies! Cheers to a new NIL era for the Cougs, and doing what we do best to support our amazing athletes. Go Cougs!
