This is the freshman’s first weekly award
Washington State Freshman Candace Kpetikou was named WCC Freshman of the week on Monday. The center from Saint Joseph High School in California was great in the Cougars two losses last week.
This is her first weekly award and the Cougars fourth Freshman of the Week award as Kpetikou joins Dayana Mendes and Charlotte Abraham who both won the award in December. Abraham won it in back-to-back weeks to finish out the month of December.
On Thursday in the 83-65 loss to Portland, Kpetikou put up 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks in her 16 minutes. She then broke her career high and added another 13 points on Saturday in the 79-76 loss to LMU. She added another 3 rebounds, a steal, and an assist.
Last night against Oregon State, she added 4 points, 8 rebounds, an assist and a block in the 65-57 victory.
Kpetikou and the rest of the Cougs will be looking to pick up where they left off last night this weekend as they host University of the Pacific and University of San Diego on Thursday and Saturday. Both games will be televised on ESPN+
