This is the fourth WCC Volleyball award for the Cougs this season
Katy Ryan and Lucie Blažková were both named WCC Weekly Award winners on Monday. The conference announced Monday afternoon that Ryan was named Offensive Player of the Week while Blažková was named Freshman of the Week. This is the first WCC award for both of them and the fourth for the Cougs this season. Emma Barbero was named Defensive Player of the Week back on September 2nd and Breccan Scheck was named Freshman of the Week on September 30th.
This past week, Ryan and Blažková helped lead the Cougs to victories over University of the Pacific and Saint Mary’s which brought their record to 10-5 on the season.
On Thursday against Pacific, Ryan led the team with 17 kills while also finishing with 3 blocks, 3 digs, and an assist while Blažková added 8 kills, 4 blocks, and a dig in the 3-1 victory.
They picked things back up on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over Saint Mary’s. Katy had another team high 30 kills, a .531 hitting percentage, and 31 points. She also added another 3 digs. Blažková added 7 kills, 4 blocks, and 2 assists.
Ryan, Blažková, and the rest of the Cougs will look to continue their success this week as they host Oregon State on Thursday at 7:00 pm in Bohler Gym and then hit the road to California again as they take on San Diego on Saturday at noon.

Freshman Dylan Burcham fired a 4-under, 67, to lead Washington State Men’s Golf during the first round of play at the Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational Monday, played on the par-71, 6,566-yard Stockton Golf and Country Club.
