Cougar Football Saturday at the beach altered my brain chemistry.
Happy Thursday and Happy Halloween, Cougs! I hope you all are planning to don a festive costume, enjoy an absurd amount of sweet treats, and of course, talk about some Cougar football! Just because we’re in the middle of our second bye week doesn’t mean we can’t continue to obsess over our precious college sports team, as we’re now really in the thick of the season.
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend my first ever (!!!) Cougar football game at an opposing team’s stadium, and let me just say, the experience was fantastic. Heading down to San Diego to watch our Cougs in Snapdragon Stadium set the bar pretty high for any future away games I might attend— First of all, San Diego is the most perfect place, and despite its sandbox of a field, Snapdragon offered a truly great fan experience. The game seemed to fly by with a huge selection of drinks, food and more to enjoy throughout!
Starting my Cougar Football Saturday with lounging on the beach and taking a stroll to an oceanfront beach club to catch some morning games quite literally changed my life. Don’t get me wrong here, I ADORE Pullman— But something about CFS at the beach just felt so right. As a whole, College Football Saturday in San Diego felt like one big glorious party, which is what we do best!
And given that Cougs love a party, the turnout of Cougar Nation down in SoCal was incredible— All weekend long, I was giving and receiving “Go Cougs” left and right wherever I went, from the bar crawl in the Gaslamp District, walking through Pacific Beach, enjoying the view at a beachfront bar, and more. On gameday, a rowdy “Go Cougs” chant broke out in the line to get in to the stadium, and only continued as Coug fans flooded the concourse, high fiving and shouting the good word of the Cougs for all to hear.
Overall, San Diego was an outstanding experience, and it was a great weekend to be a Coug. I’m absolutely not upset with the idea of visiting every other year for a fun conference matchup— Twist my arm!
PLUS, to add even more icing on this delicious Cougar cake, the passionate victory down at the beach not only improved the Cougs’ record to an amazing 7-1 for the first time since 2018, it also landed us a spot back in the AP Top 25 rankings, checking in at No. 22. It doesn’t get much sweeter than that, folks.
Coming up next week, we’re looking forward to a big week of sports in Pullman as our Cougar basketball teams kick off on November 4th, and WSU football returns home to take on another future conference opponent, Utah State, on November 9th. Get yourself to Pullman for a jam-packed week of Cougar sports fun— I know I will!
Have a fantastic, fun and safe Halloweekend, Cougs! We’ll see you next week in Pullman!
