The Cougs will head to the smurf turf in just a few weeks
Washington State and Boise State will kick off in just under two weeks and while we have known that for a while, the kickoff time was unknown. Until Monday evening when Boise State announced that kickoff would be at 7:00 pm PST on September 28th.
The Broncos, who did not play this past weekend, are 1-1 with a 56-45 victory over Georgia Southern and a 37-34 loss to #7 Oregon this season. They will host Portland State in their home opener this weekend before welcoming the Cougs to the blue turf.
The Cougs are 3-0 and are coming off of an Apple Cup win over Washington this past weekend. They will host San Jose State on Friday at 7:00 pm. The Cougs will be looking to put a dent in their future conference member’s perfect 3-0 record and stay undefeated before heading to Boise.
The Broncos are led by Sophomore quarterback Maddux Madsen who is 39-71 and has thrown for 428 yards. He has 2 touchdowns and 1 interceptions on the year. Running back Ashton Jeanty has tallied 459 yards on 45 carries and 9 touchdowns. Against Oregon two weeks ago, Jeanty rushed for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The Cougs hold a 5-1 record all time against the Broncos with their lone loss coming in 2016 at Boise. Their last meeting was in 2017 in Pullman and ended in a 47-44 triple-OT come from behind victory led by Tyler Hilinski. Hilinski came into the game after Luke Falk went down with an injury in the 3rd quarter. He would go on to complete 25 of his 33 passes for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns before being carried off the field on the shoulders of fans and teammates following the win.
We do know that the game will be televised on a Fox Sports Network, but the specific channel will be announced this coming Sunday.
