The Cougs had 15 players enter their name into the portal on day 1.
After 24 hours of the transfer portal being opened, 15 Washington State Cougars entered their name to see if the grass is actually greener on the other side. Of the 15 names entered into the portal, 5 were regular starters and 8 saw either didn’t see the field or played just a hand-full of snaps and the final 2 played off and on throughout their career.
Ethan O’Connor, Wayshawn Parker, Ansel Din-Mbuh, and Nick Haberer were the biggest names to officially enter on Monday. Khalil Laufau, who started the final few games of the season also entered his name.
Warren Smith and Landon Roaten played occasionally over their careers but have opted to test the waters moving forward.
Brandon Hills, King Williams, Luke Roaten, Brady McKelheer, Hyrum-Benjamin Moors, Tai Fa’avae, Aslan Fraser, and Mahki Whitney round out the 15 who entered. Of these 8, only Roaten, Hills, and Fraser logged snaps with Fraser getting 6, Roaten getting 5, and Hills getting just 1 snap throughout their career.
While there is still plenty of time remaining before the portal closes, losing just 4 starters is a great sign for what is to come. Last week, Head Coach Jake Dickert said that he expected 15-20 to enter the portal and with 18 days left until the portal closes the Cougs are remaining hopeful that they can keep the nucleus of their team together.
