Washington head coach Jedd Fisch is adding yet another notable name to his staff for the 2024 season.
According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Washington is hiring former Commanders assistant quarterbacks coach Luke Del Rio as an offensive analyst.
Luke Del Rio is the son of former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio. He was an assistant coach for the Commanders for four seasons.
What’s really fascinating about this hire is that it’s the third time this offseason that a son of a former NFL head coach joined Washington’s staff.
A few weeks ago, Washington hired Steve Belichick as its defensive coordinator. Of course, that’s the son of the legendary Bill Belichick.
For those who don’t know, there’s a preexisting connection between Belichick and Fisch. Before Arizona hired Fisch as its head football coach in 2021, he was a quarterbacks coach for the Patriots.
The first notable move that Fisch made at Washington was naming Brennan Carroll, the son of former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, his offensive coordinator.
Carroll served as Fisch’s offensive coordinator at Arizona from 2021-2023. Prior to landing that job, he was the run game coordinator for the Seahawks.
It’ll be fascinating to see how Fisch’s staff performs at Washington this fall.
