There’s definitely a trend developing on the Washington Huskies football team under new head coach Jedd Fisch.
According to Bleacher Report NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Huskies are hiring Jake Lynch as their new defensive graduate assistant. Lynch – the son of San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch – is a former Stanford linebacker who is beginning his coaching career.
“Another NFL connection for a loaded @UW_Football staff: Jedd Fisch hired former Stanford LB Jake Lynch – son of #49ers GM John Lynch – to be the Huskies’ Defensive GA, per source,” Schultz wrote.
But Schultz also noted something rather interesting. Apparently Lynch is actually the fourth son of a highly successful person in the NFL to get a job on the Washington staff in just the past few weeks.
Bill Belichick’s son Stephen, Pete Carroll’s son Brennan and Jack Del Rio’s son Luke have all been added to Fisch’s staff.
Jedd Fisch has a rather daunting task ahead of him. Not only does he have the boosted expectations for a team that just reached the College Football Playoff national title game, he’s leading the team into their first year as members of the Big Ten Conference.
It certainly doesn’t help that Washington is going to be losing star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to the NFL Draft, leaving the with far more questions than answers at the position heading into his first year at the helm.
Fisch could probably do with a little more experience on his roster for his first year with the Huskies. We’ll see how it all manifests later this year.
