2023 is the final season of the Pac-12 as we know it, and it may have just gone out with one of the best games in the history of the conference.
Saturday’s Oregon at Washington game is the first Pac-12 matchup of teams 5-0 or better since 2004 when USC beat Arizona State 45-7. For comparison, its happened 15 times in the SEC since 2004.

Oregon and Washington were the first Pac-12 teams to meet at 5-0 or better since 2004, and each team had aspirations of making the College Football Playoff.
The road gets a little less clear for Oregon after this loss – they could be out of the Pac-12 title game – but Washington is now essentially in control of their own destiny.
If the Huskies win out, they’ll be among the top four teams in the country, especially given the strength of the Pac-12 this season.
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 302 yards and four touchdowns, including the biggest one of all, a go-ahead score with 1:38 remaining that proved to be the difference on the day.

Penix Jr. is now the clear frontrunner for the Heisman trophy, and could be the second Pac-12 quarterback in a row to take home the award after Caleb Williams did so last season.
