Despite holding the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the New York Giants should probably have a pretty firm idea of which players will still be available when they make their first pick. For Giants legend and radio broadcaster Tiki Barber, there’s one clear choice they should make.
On Thursday’s edition of his WFAN show, Barber made the case that the Giants should select Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze with their No. 6 overall pick. He believes that Odunze represents the “big-play threat” that the team needs but hasn’t had and that the Washingotn wideout is “a sure bet.”
“I am taking Rome Odunze at wide receiver,” Barber said. “And finally give them that breakout, big-play threat that Daniel Jones has not had consistently yet… To me, it feels like a sure bet.”
Odunze is widely regarded as a top 10 prospect but most consider him to be the third best wide receiver behind the likes of Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. and LSU’s Malik Nabers. Though with the way the first five picks are looking, there’s a good chance that both of those receivers will be off the board by the time Giants general manager Joe Schoen has to phone in his pick.
As a senior in 2023, Odunze was one of the breakout stars of the Huskies’ national championship runner-up team. He had 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns in 15 games, setting a new school single season record for yards in the process.
Would Odunze be a good fit for the Giants with the No. 6 overall pick?
