The final College Football Playoff of the four-team format will be a lot like the first one: The Big Ten Champion versus the Pac-12 Champion. So who does Stephen A. Smith have winning between Michigan and Washington?
On Wednesday’s edition of First Take, the ESPN personality picked the Wolverines to win it all. However, he hedged his pick by saying that he wouldn’t be surprised if the Huskies wound up springing the upset.
“I got Michigan winning the national title, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Washington upsets them,” Smith said.
College football fans were not amused by Smith trying to ride the fence on his national championship pick.

“Summary: Michigan could win.. but they also could lose. Groundbreaking stuff,” one user replied to First Take’s post.
“Picks the favorite but says the underdog could also win. Great analysis here,” wrote another.
“Lmfao, Steven H(edge) Smith,” a third wrote.
Michigan are favored by less than a touchdown. The winner will become the final 15-0 team of the four-team College Football Playoff era.
