The Pac-12 may not be dead, but it’s safe to say that it’s in hospice care after the latest update.
According to Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, Oregon and Washington are leaving the conference and moving to the Big Ten. The move will be effective in 2024, making this their final year in the Pac-12 Conference.
There were conflicting reports earlier today over whether the Ducks and Huskies might stay as the conference presented its media grant of rights. But the Big Ten allegedly made a big push to convince Oregon and Washington to jump ship.
It may take some getting used to as the two schools are leaving in-state rivals Oregon State and Washington State behind. The Beavers and Cougars don’t appear to be joining the Big Ten anytime soon.

As for the Pac-12 Conference as a whole, it seems likely that this will be the death knell.Â
Arizona is reportedly mulling leaving the Pac-12 and joining Colorado in the Big 12 Conference. Once that move finalizes, the Pac-12 will have only six members for the 2024 season.Â
Unless the Pac-12 pulls a rabbit out of its hat and gets a bunch of schools to join it in short order, we could be heading into the final year of Pac-12 sports.
