246 dimes and counting for the senior lead guard.
Overpassing your own record is impressive in its own right but doing it in exciting fashion like on a fast break alley-oop lob makes it that much more memorable. Gonzaga point guard Ryan Nembhard now owns the top two single-season assists record in program history. This season, it’s at 246 and counting with still six West Coast Conference regular season games to go.

The growth as a leader since Nembhard transferred from Omaha to Spokane back in 2023 has been immediately visible. The way he directs the offense and controls the flow is similar to how the likes of Josh Perkins, Matt Santangelo, Blake Stepp, and Jeremy Pargo did. That’s some wonderful company to be compared with.
Crazy to believe but Nembhard has more assists in a single-season than Gonzaga legend John Stockton who had 201 in 1983-84 (sixth most in school history), even more than his own older brother. Indiana Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard had 184 assists in 2021-22 which lands him tied for No. 10 on the school list.
The West Coast Conference record for assists in a single-season is owned by Saint Mary’s guard Emmett Naar with 284 in 2017-18. Nembhard is just 39 away from owning the title as the elite dime-dropper to play in this conference.
Gonzaga went on the road to Stockton and beat Pacific, 78-61. The Zags improve to 18-7 overall, 9-3 in West Coast Conference play. Nembhard finished with seven points on 2-6 field goals/2-4 three-pointers, eight assists, four rebounds, and one steal in the victory.
Nembhard leads all of college basketball with 9.9 assists per game this season. The best point guard in the nation and it’s not that close of an argument.
