One of the best young prospect over in Europe is heading to Spokane.
It was reported a couple of weeks ago but not finalized that Ismail Diagne committted to Gonzaga. It’s now official. The Senegalese 7-footer is coming off an Adidas Next Generation championship and a Liga Endesa title with Real Madrid’s U-18 team. Diagne averaged 10.2 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.6 APG, and 0.9 blocks in the Adidas Next Gen Tournament and 5.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, and 1 BPG in the Liga Endesa.

This move adds a rim protector that many thought the Zags really needed to come off the bench. He’s also a great rebounder and a bruiser on the low block. I don’t picture him playing a ton in his first season with Gonzaga as he acclimates to basketball in the States but he’s going to learn a lot as one of the younger players on this veteran-led squad.

This was Gonzaga’s 13th and final scholarship given out which means the 2024-2025 roster is complete. Truly completes what was an amazing offseason for the Zags, maybe the best ever in program history. The team just recently started summer workouts but Diagne will arrive this fall as a freshman with four years of eligibility.
