Nembhard is the one of only five players to average 10+ assists per game over the last 30 years. He joins a list of names like Saint Louis’ Yuri Collins (10.1 assists per game in 2022-23), Baylor’s Nelson Haggerty (10.1 assists per game in 1994-95), Murray State’s Ja Morant (10.0 assists per game in 2018-19), Long Island’s Jason Brickman (10.0 assists per game in 2013-14), UMBC’s Chris De La Rosa (10.0 assists per game in 2011-12).
The 6’0 senior’s 471 total assists in his two seasons with the Zags ranks seventh in the program’s history. He was also the fastest to 100 and 200 assists in a season in Gonzaga’s program history.
Nembhard’s 4.40 assist-to-turnover ratio is currently second in the country. He has put together 10 double-doubles this season which is tied for the 11th most in all of college basketball.
The award’s Top Ten list will be narrowed to just five finalists in March. No former Zags have ever won this honor.
