Gonzaga goes back to the Montana well for talent
On Tuesday evening, high school guard Paige Lofing announced on Instagram her commitment to the Gonzaga Women’s Basketball team
The Bulldogs have not formally announced any such commitment on either their official site or social media sites so I’m not entirely sure if this information is valid, but she is followed by several Zags on Instagram so let’s take a glance at what Paige may bring to this team
Hailing from Huntley Project, Montana, which is located just Northeast of Billings, Lofing will be a senior this coming year and would be joining the Zags for the ‘25-26 season. Listed in an Instagram post on her page as 5’9”, Lofing has featured prominently for her Red Devils squad that finished last year with a 28-2 record and 3rd in the Montana Class B Tournament. This article reports that Paige finished that season averaging 24 points and dropped 30 points or more six times with her highest being 39.
It’s hard to find much else in the way of objective information or statistics about Paige, but I will share a couple of highlight videos posted on her Instagram:
While it’s hard to judge a players talent based on clips, Paige looks like a confident player with some flair that wants the ball in her hands. While the team has added a number of guards this off-season, with the current NCAA transfer rules and possibility of unexpected injuries, I’m excited the staff has gone out and added another backcourt prospect.
One thing I want to point out, the last player I’m aware of that the Zags Women picked up out of Montana: Jill Barta. I’m not saying Paige will become that dominant of a player, but maybe there’s something in the water of those small Montana towns.
