They’ll head to South Dakota for the grudge match.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs and Baylor Bears will finally play their long awaited regular season game next season on Dec. 2, 2022, at the Sanford Pentagon, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
It will be the seventh meeting between the two teams, which Gonzaga holds the all-time advantage, 5-1. Of course, that record is largely meaningless for the fanbase of both teams, because Baylor’s lone win is by far the most important—the 2021 NCAA Tournament Championship game.
Both Gonzaga and Baylor have roundly been two of the top teams in college basketball in recent years, and that is likely to continue next year. In ESPN’s recently updated Too Early Top 25, the Zags came in at No. 6 and Baylor landed at No. 7.
This game will also mark the first regular season game between the two schools in 10 years. Prior to Baylor crushing the Zags in the 2021 National Championship game, Brandon Clarke dunked his way to 36 points in a second round win over the Bears in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
